LG BG5990 Blu Ray Player Tracking issues

I just recently purchased this as an "open box" from a local store. I've put in a Blue Ray and noticed that the Blue Ray sound and picture are a split second apart--they do not seem to quite track. Is this something that is fixable by troubleshooting, or do I have to return this player, now knowing why it was an "open box"?
