Unfortunately I bought one of these. I also bought an extended warranty from the Future Shop. There are a lot of programs/channels it won't record. I get a message saying "record blocking signals detected" and it stops. LG tells me this is normal and that as of 2008 ALL video recording devices must have a chip that detects broadcasters who do not want their signals recorded and stop recording.
The Future Shop tells me that it should record everything and that their extended warranty will cover replacement. The problem is that their warranty doesn't kick in until after the manufacturers warranty expires so I have to wait another 10 months and then they will replace it with something else.
I might believe this "record blocking" stuff except that my former Rogers DVR and now Bell DVR will record all channels, all the time, no problems. Is LG just yanking my chain?
